This becomes even more crucial as we age because it changes the way it operates gradually. Digesting your meals may take you longer. Food can begin to lose some of its flavor. You may no longer be as thirsty.

That doesn’t mean, though, that we don’t need nutrients, and sometimes even more. For example, our body’s calcium requirement improves with the era, and we need additional low-fat milk, yogurt, and cheese servings.

Calculate your energy requirements Many elderly individuals tend to eat the same quantity they did when they were younger, which could result in an exponential weight gain that becomes more difficult or almost impossible to lose. It is therefore vital to be aware of the need to decrease our consumption of food.

There’s also another extreme. Some elderly individuals tend to consume too little food and have a lack of energy that can lead to a multitude of chronic health problems resulting from a suppressed immune system.

So what’s the trick? Consume sufficient energy to keep a good weight and decrease energy intake moderately as we grow older without decreasing our consumption of nutrients.

Some healthy eating guidelines-Limiting sodium consumption, strong fats, adding sugar, especially liquid sugar in the form of sweetened cold beverages and undiluted fruit juices, refined grains, and improving physical activity.

-Have more food that is dense in nutrients. To increase calcium consumption to avoid osteoporosis, select fat-free or low-fat milk and dairy goods (yogurt, cottage cheese). To prevent anemia and thyroid issues, eat seafood, lean meat, poultry and eggs, vitamin B12, iron and trace minerals such as zinc, selenium and iodine.

-Include as many vegetables as possible, especially dark green or dark yellow vegetables as possible. Probiotics are helpful in restoring intestinal flora function for individuals of all ages.

Of all, water. You may not drink enough water as you get older because you are not as thirsty as you used to. But you can’t believe as obviously without water, and get tired easier.

So maybe you can’t stop aging, by eating right and keeping an active lifestyle throughout you can definitely slow it down.
